Instructions
Login using the credentials you received from the TMB team.
Step 1: Query Data
- Select the appropriate "Study". To download data from multiple study pages, click the "Study" field and select multiple studies.
- Select the desired "Data Type".
- Enter the date range for the data you wish to download. All data collected on the "Start Date" and the "End Date" (as defined by your TMB study’s timezone) will be included in the report.
- If you want to download data for a single user, enter the user’s anonymized "Participant ID". If the "Participant ID" field is left empty, then data for all users in the designated date range will be downloaded.
- Click "Send Query".
Step 2: Format & Download
- Select "Report Format" and "Test" (if applicable).
- Click "Download" / "Display".
- The report file will download automatically in the default download folder designated by your browser, or data will be displayed in a separate browser tab if you have chosen the "Dashboard" option.
To maintain data security, please logout and close the browser once you have downloaded all the data you need.
If you change "Study", "Data Type", "Start Date", "End Date" or "Participant ID" you will need to resend the Query before you can Download.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s my username and password?
If you are having trouble logging in, please go to the TMB Data Portal login page and click “Forgot username/password” and follow the instructions for resetting your password. If you are still having issues, please email it@manybrains.net and info@manybrains.net. To note, as part of our security procedures new users can only be registered by project members that have been granted permission to request new users.
What are the available Data Types?
- Test Data: Download your study’s cognitive test data.
- Completion Report: Additional feature accessible by select projects. Allows study administrators to check which participants (by date range and participant ID) have completed which batteries.
- Access Log: Additional feature accessible by select projects. Allows study administrators to review participants’ activity as they interacted with the study pages and the tests, including but not limited to: test completion, battery completion, and study completion.
How do I decide which Report Format will work best for me?
The "Dashboard" Display format is available for all Data Types. For the "Completion Report" and "Access Log" Data Types, only one Download format ("Full Report") is available. For "Test Data", please see the below descriptions to decide which format(s) will work best for your research team:
-
Full Report
Recommended for data archiving, and for study administrators who are comfortable working with JSON encoded data. To access all the data, your analysis pipeline must be capable of parsing JSON strings.- Includes all data for the selected study and date range.
- Some of the data fields are encoded as JSON strings (including "data" and "outcomes").
- Each row contains data for one participant and one sitting.
- This report may contain very long JSON strings and therefore may not be readable in Microsoft Excel.
-
Test Summary Report
Recommended for study administrators who are most interested in summary scores (contained in the "outcomes" field) and do not need trial-by-trial data (contained in the "data" field).- Each row contains data for one test taken by one participant.
- All fields are parsed and readily accessible except "data".
- Does not include trial-by-trial data.
- Must download by test (select test from dropdown in Step 2).
- Fully readable in Microsoft Excel.
-
Test Trial-by-trial Report
Recommended for study administrators who want to access their trial-by-trial data.- All JSON encoded data fields have been decoded and are readily accessible (including "outcomes" and "data").
- Each row contains data for one trial of one test taken by one participant.
- Must download by test (select test from dropdown in Step 2).
- As the generated file can be quite large, we recommend selecting a short date range for download.
- Fully readable in Microsoft Excel.
-
Dashboard
Recommended for study administrators, particularly clinicians, who want to review data from a range of dates or a single participant/patient without downloading a file.- A new page will open automatically in your browser showing a summary of the data you have selected.
What’s a “Participant ID”?
A participant ID is an anonymized user ID that is paired with the user’s data. The anonymized ID should have been assigned to the participant/patient by the study administrator and we do not possess any further information about the ID or the actual participant.
What do the data fields mean?
Please refer to your study’s DataDictionary included in the email from your TMB contact.
I’m having trouble downloading my data — help!
- Make sure that you pressed "Send Query" before pressing "Download" / "Display".
- Make sure that the date range you entered is within your data collection period. If you don’t remember the exact range, enter a "Start Date" in the distant past (e.g. 2010-01-01) and enter today’s date as the "End Date".
- If your study has a lot of data (or you are trying to download a Trial-by-trial Data Report), your system may be taking a long time processing your request. Try shortening your date range and downloading the data in smaller batches.
- Still having trouble? Email info@manybrains.net with your Study Name and describe the issues you are encountering.
